NWAC supports Wounded Warrior Project
2016-08-10 11:44:51

For the past five years the Northwest Athletic Conference has made a a community service project for their student-athletes an integral part of NWAC Championship Events. These efforts support the conference’s endeavor to educate student-athletes on the importance of giving rather than receiving, to give more than what is expected, and helping others helps all.
Over the years NWAC student-athletes have provided clothes, shoes, hygiene products, backpacks, fleece blankets, canned foods, and so much more. By partnering with non-profit organizations in the cities that host NWAC championship events, NWAC student-athletes have provided some relief to those in need.
As the Northwest Athletic Conference continues in its service to use athletics as a way to support others, the NWAC is proud and honored to announce that at each 2016-2017 championship event, along with donating items to the community, NWAC will support Wounded Warrior Project and honor a veteran and his/her family.
The honored veteran will take part in championship ceremonies and will serve as a guest at the championship events. NWAC Executive Director, Marco Azurdia states, “Working with Wounded Warrior Project allows our student-athletes the chance to honor a veteran for his/her service which is a great lessoned to be learned and provides the veteran an opportunity to enjoy our student-athletes.”
