2018-06-13 10:43:17

Linn-Benton's Cole Hamilton, a freshman catcher out of Salem, OR, was the lone NWAC player selected in this month’s annual Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. Hamilton was taken in the 23rd round by the Washington Nationals.
According to Linn-Benton Head Coach Ryan Gipson, “Although the Nationals made a worthy offer to sign Cole, as of now he plans on returning to Linn-Benton for his sophomore campaign.”
Although this year’s draft featured only one current NWAC player selected in the draft, several former NWAC players, who recently finished their four-year baseball careers, were selected as well, including:
Kris Jackson, Chemeketa, now at Corban College, 28th Round, Boston Red Sox
Gunnar Schubert, Pierce, now at Gonzaga, 28th Round, Miami Marlins
David Garza, Edmonds, now at Tennessee Tech, 38th Round, Arizona Diamondbacks
Cole Uvila, Pierce, now at Georgia-Gwinnett, 40th Round, Texas Rangers
